Features to know about

Keep a Clean Factory Look: Hidden Cross Tube Design

With the hidden cross tube tucked behind the bumper, only the 2" x 2" receiver is visible once installed. That means you get a Class III hitch that blends in with your vehicle’s look instead of sticking out. The concealed design keeps things neat while still giving you all the function you need for towing or hauling.

Tow and Haul with Confidence: Class III Strength with 3,000 lbs GTW and 450 lbs TW

This hitch gives you solid, reliable performance for everyday towing jobs and accessory use. With a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,000 lbs and a tongue weight limit of 450 lbs, it’s built for small trailers, bike racks, or cargo carriers. The stainless steel receiver resists corrosion, so your setup stays strong and looks good even after years of use.

Tough Build That’s Better for the Environment: Recycled Aluminum and Steel Alloy

The EcoHitch combines aerospace-grade aluminum, steel, and stainless steel into a sturdy, lightweight alloy made from recycled materials. It’s engineered to be durable without adding unnecessary weight and is tested using Finite Elemental Analysis to meet SAE J684 towing safety regulations. You get long-term strength while keeping the environmental impact lower than traditional steel hitches.

Simple Bolt-On Installation: No Drilling or Welding Needed

Everything bolts directly to existing points on the frame—no drilling or welding required. The hitch installs behind the bumper for that hidden look and a quick install process with basic tools. Once in place, it’s ready for towing or for carrying your favorite bike rack or cargo tray without any extra fuss.

This is one of the more PITA installs I have done, and it definitely felt more like a hack than a plug-and-play between scraping off sealant to reveal hidden frame holes, fishing bolts back into the frame, and awkward ratchet angles to (temporarily) remove the bumper without removing the bumper cover - just in order to reveal frame holes through which to fish the bolts.

My biggest complaint is that some of the bolt holes are not large enough to fit the bolt plus the fishwire, even though you're supposed to leave the fishwires on to keep the bolts from permanently disappearing into the frame. This led to plenty of swearing on my part and some bent/broken fishwires but ultimately it worked out.

I place most of the blame on Toyota for not building in easy frame mounting points for a hitch. It's a strong and creative solution that fits well and will easily handle loads up to (and maybe occasionally above) the rated towing capacity. I'm still giving it five stars despite the annoying install because it is very well built and elegantly engineered to fit this vehicle.

When the hitch companies started designing trailer hitches so they'd be more concealed once installed, the difficulty level of the install procedure definitely went through the roof. We're sorry for all the colorful language that was used, but we're glad you've gotten it figured out!

by:

The hitch itself and the hardware is good, but the estimated install time of 50 minutes is way too short. It took over 2 hours with having to scrape off sealant to access the holes in the body the hitch mounts to, move the bumper stubs to fish the bolts into the frame, and build a brace for the EVAP canister that had to be slightly relocated to accommodate the hitch mount bracket. When competed the hitch has a clean look and seems sturdy enough, but trying to estimate the install for a customer based on this was not good.

Great looking hitch on my new Corolla Cross Hybrid! Was really happy that the bumper cover didn’t have to be removed for the install. Works great hauling my bikes. Only small gripe was that there wasn’t an install video on your website.

by:

Nice hitch, but I do have one gripe. The sleeve that the hitch tongue goes into is too short. I bought a kuwat bike rack that has a ball type ratchet to secure the hitch. The problem is that the bike trailer hangs too far back from the rear of the car when using the ball ratchet . If the sleeve was a little longer it would accommodate that adjustment much better. Otherwise it is very solid.

by:

Very nice hitch. However fishing bolts was difficult and took time. Using screwdriver did not work so I pulled them through with the threaded wire. Hard time lining them up because of the angle. But finally did it.

by:

The provided instructions were very accurate, including specifically identifying the most difficult points of the installation. The hitch can be installed by a normal person as long as you have a torque wrench and ratchet set. The modification needed to your Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid is minimal - you just need to notch out a 3"x5" rectangle in the underside of the plastic bumper cover. No removal of the bumper, taillights, etc. was necessary. No drilling. The hitch itself is really sturdy and arrived in pristine condition very quickly.

Really sturdy, we transported 2 bikes from Texas to Montana on this and it was very secure. Installation is doable by 1 person, but a second person would help. ing the bolts with the wire is a bit tricky but be patient. Great bike rack

The echo hitch its perfect fit in my wife 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross XLE Hybrid. I did it myself so its little hard wrestling under the vehicle holding the hitch both sides. The only thing I would suggest is when your putting the stud treads in the frame, put some paper tape on the spacer. So it won't come sliding off the stud stread when you spole the long wire kit.. I'm very satisfied with the product without removing the whole bumper off and tail lights. Worth paying extra dollars. Thanks for the awesome hitch my wife can put bike rack on her car now.

I'm happy we could help get her the hitch she needed to use her bike rack! Thanks for sharing the tip about using paper tape on the spacers as well. It's always helpful to get firsthand knowledge of how something installs.

  • Comparing Class III Trailer Hitch Receivers For A 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid
Hi Mary, There can be differences in the way components under the vehicle are ran that can change how a trailer hitch will need to be shaped to fit depending on the model type. I spoke with EcoHitch and they stated that they haven't tested the # EH87CR on a non-hybrid model yet so they just can't confirm that it will fit. Since their design is unique there's not another brand using the same mounting holes to compare it to. The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver # DT28GR is a...

  • Recommended Hitch for a 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross and How to Install It
Hey Michael, congrats on the new SUV. The EcoHitch item # EH87CR does not require you to remove the rear bumper assembly when installing. It does require some slight fascia trimming though. You'll have to remove a 2-3/4” deep and 4-1/2” wide section that sits below your Cross. This allows the 2" receiver to extend below your bumper. Please note that the EcoHitch item # EH87CR only fits the hybrid models of the 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross. If yours is not a hybrid, you'll need the Curt item...

  • Trailer Hitch and Wiring for 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid
Hey Mark! The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH87CR will fit your 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid. However, we cannot confirm fitment of a wiring harness at this time. What you're referencing is just the bulbs. You actually remove the entire tail light assembly to get to the connectors for the # C55ZV, see the attached photo. This wiring harness fits the 2025 with LED lights, the # C39DR you were looking at is for incandescent. Regardless, without a vehicle to test this on...

  • Does the EcoHitch Hidden Hitch EH87CR Fit a 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid SE?
Hey Dwayne, welcome back! The EcoHitch Hidden Hitch item # EH87CR does indeed fit your 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid SE and you do not have to remove the bumper. EcoHitch doesn't post their installation instructions online so I can't get you those. There's an installation video for the EcoHitch item # EH87CR on their website or YouTube that shows the entire process. The bumper doesn't get removed and you don't have to drop the exhaust. The only real difficulty is going to be fishing...

  • What Hitch do I Need for My 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross HYBRID for a Bike Rack?
Hello Jim, Wow, they quoted you seven hours for a trailer hitch install? That seems really high. The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # EH87CR is specifically designed for the Hybrid version of the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross, so it’ll be a perfect fit for your vehicle. • Trailer Hitch Fitment For The 2024 Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid
Hey Paul, The EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # EH87CR would not require you to remove the rear bumper or tail lights and would be a bolt-on installation. It does require you to notch out a hole in the rear fascia for the receiver tube to stick out. This can mostly be done with basic tools but you'll want a razor blade scraper to remove some sealer from the frame and you'll also need a torque wrench # PT87ZR to torque down the mounting hardware. If you plan on towing a trailer...

Hey Joshua, the EcoHitch # EH87CR that you referenced only does fit the hybrid versions of the 2025 Toyota Corolla Cross so it's not going to work for you but we do have the very similar Curt hitch part # C64DR that will work great. It does not have a stainless hitch opening like the EcoHitch though.
